Experimental NWC Synthetic Aperture Radar River Ice Surveillance Experimental
SARRIS is a
Experimental
product from the National Water Center that uses Copernicus Sentinel-1 SAR satellite imagery to detect and classify river ice conditions.
Ice classifications may contain uncertainty due to the varying nature of radar backscatter on water surfaces, particularly on large water bodies affected by wind. Red polygons show NWC analyst notes that provide additional context for the classifications and highlight areas of interest from optical satellite imagery and ground observations.
